This timeline is adapted from this site, with additions and alterations to make it fit my mashup world view.

B.F. - Before the Faith

A.F. - After the Faith

~ 4,000 B.F. - The Age of Heroes: The Great Houses of Amber were founded by the thirteen children of Oberon. His seven wives each bore between one and three children, who divided the land of Amber into seven kingdoms--the Kingdom of Mountain and Vale, the Kingdom of the Storm Lands, the Kingdom of the Rock, the Kingdom of the Iron Islands, the Kingdom of the North, the Kingdom of the River Lands, and the Kingdom of the Reach. A pact made with the Children of the Forest, who lived in Amber since time immemorial, ensured peace and prosperity. The Pact endures for nearly four thousand years, and in that time, the Children of the Forest and the First Men grow closer. In time, those of the Great Houses set aside many of their cultural differences to embrace the ways and customs of the Children of the Forest. With the exception of the Drowned God of the Iron Islands, the gods of the Children become those of the Great Houses. Many of the Houses of Amber, Great and Lesser alike, trace their lineage back to the Age of Heroes. This was the time when grand historical figures are said to have lived.

~ 2,000 B.F. - The Long Night: In this time, night seems to last for a generation, and the longest, coldest and darkest winter descends on Amber. The ice spreads down from the north, and under the cover of darkness, the Others invade Amber from the uttermost north, marching, killing and raising up the dead to be their servants in unlife and nearly destroying all men in Amber. The Long Night comes to an end following the Battle of the Dawn, after the Children and the Great Houses rose united to defeat the Others, with dragonglass weapons, pushing them back into the frozen reaches of the Far North. They are led by a great hero from the east, who is named Azor Ahai, and wields a great sword of fire, Lightbringer.

Founding of the Wall: With the Others defeated, Bran the Builder, of House Stark, with the aid of the giants, the other Great Houses, and perhaps the Children of the Forest, raise up the Wall: a monumental fortification of ice and ancient magic, to shelter the realms of men from the menaces of the north. The Sworn Brotherhood of the Night's Watch is formed to man and guard it.

The Night's King: Not long after the Wall is complete, the thirteenth Lord Commander of the Night's Watch betrays his oath. He is seduced by a wight woman from beyond the Wall: declares himself the Night's King and rises in rebellion with the Watch as his personal army. During the dark years of his reign, horrific atrocities are committed, of which tales would be told in the North even after several millenia. The Starks of Winterfell and the King Beyond the Wall, Joramun, join forces to defeat the Night's King and thus restore honor to the Watch. This is the same Joramun who also finds the Horn of Winter, which he is said to use to awaken giants from the earth.

~ 100 B.F. - The Thirteen: Scholars and sages of Amber begin to identify signs and portents that suggest that some of the thirteen children of Oberon are still active in Amber. Many of these learned men begin advising the abandonment of the faith of the Children of the Forest, to be replaced by worship of the thirteen children of Oberon. At first, the movement is restricted primarily to the scholars, but it catches on among the smallfolk after a short while. Members of the Great and Lesser Houses of Amber begin to take notice of this new religion, and most of the kingdoms gradually adopt the religion on an official basis. Only the Kingdom of the Iron Islands (who had always held to their beliefs in the Drowned God) do not take part in this new religion, which is named the Faith of the Thirteen. Those Children of the Forest who still lived in Amber retreat to the lands beyond the Wall.

0 - Official adoption of the Faith of the Thirteen: With the official adoption of the Faith of the Thirteen by six of the seven kingdoms, the rulers of each kingdom also agree to establish a system of standardized dates. The original impetus for this was so that the scholars of the Great Houses could tracking the lineages of the kings back to the Thirteen, so that the kings might claim divine right for their rulership over the smallfolk and Lesser Houses. The scholars charged with this task were largely unsuccessful in locating sufficient documentation for these claims, but the system of dating remained in place.

953-958 A.F. - The Winter of Hunger: As winter approached in 953, devastating fires swept across the Reach, destroying the crops that remained in the fields for the last harvest. When this was followed by an unusually harsh winter, lasting five years, many throughout Amber went hungry, and the population dwindled. Recovery from this winter took nearly ten years.

2,254 A.F. - The Clash with the Baurig: A previously unknown force attacks the western coastline of Amber, including the Iron Islands. The attackers appear basically human, though they possess a number of features unseen in Amber. While the attackers are initially able to gain a strong foothold on all of the kingdoms that border the Sunset Sea, they fall to infighting after several months of occupation, and the people of Amber are able to drive the force off of their land. Ships from the Iron Islands that attempt to pursue the attackers when they flee are never seen again.

~ 3,000 A.F. - Wildling Invasion: The Free Folk (Wildlings) unite under the brother Kings-beyond-the-Wall Gendel and Gorne, manage to evade the Night's Watch and bypass the Wall in great numbers using a network of tunnels that extend under the Wall. However, they are met by the Stark King on the other side and are eventually thrown back.

5,640-5,643 A.F. - The last winter seen in Amber

5,654 A.F. - Present Day.

In addition to this general history, there are also many events that occured within the various Kingdoms over the past nearly 10,000 years. These are details on individual pages for each Kingdom:
