Founding of Houses Durrendon and Baratheon, and the Kingdom of the Stormlands

     Oberon had three children by his second wife, Faiella--Eric, Corwin, and Deirdre.

     Eric, who took the surname Durrendon, did not take a wife. However, he fathered children with a number of women, and decreed them to be his heirs.

     Corwin and Deirdre took the surname Baratheon, and had a number of children together. Corwin also fathered children by a number of other women, including at least one child by Queen Moire Greyjoy of the Iron Islands, and at least one child by a descendant of King Benedict Arryn of Mountain and Vale. It is rumored that he fathered at least one child in each of the Seven Kingdoms, and that a large percentage of the inhabitants of Amber are his descendants.

     King Eric Durrendon was the first King of the Stormlands. The details surrounding the end of his reign are fuzzy, with at least two possible versions. One says that he abdicated the throne to his brother Corwin and his sister Deirdre after about 100 years. The other suggests that Corwin and his half-brother, Bleys (of the Rock), led a revolution against Eric and overthrew him. In either case, the situation was unusual, as Eric did have heirs who could have continued his ruling line. But Corwin was the second King of the Stormlands either way, and House Baratheon has held the throne since.

     Although House Baratheon is the only Great House in the Kingdom of the Stormlands at this time, House Durrendon arguably has the right to be considered a Great House as well. However, they and the other houses descended from the children of Faiella are all Lesser Houses.

Current situation

     The current King of the Stormlands is King Barristan Baratheon. He is nearly 75 years old at this point, and married to his third wife, Brienne Trant, who is considerably younger. King Barristan's eldest son, Willis Baratheon, is the Crown Prince and will inherit the throne. His mother was a Buckwell and his wife is a Chyttering. Prior to Willis's marriage, Lord Victarion Durrendon tried to convince him to marry one of his daughters, a willful girl by the name of Betharios. However, King Barristan rejected the marriage offer and found Willis a more tractable wife.
